Fix "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" in AHIMA Learning Center when attempting to access Brightspace

This happens when there is a user in both systems and they are not tied to each other.  The below directions will synch up the user.  


Step 1: Open the user up in both Brightkey and Aptify.  

Step 2:

In Brightspace change the username to the persons Aptify PersonID (not AHIMA ID, the Aptify ID)

Step 3: Place the users email address in the Org Defined ID spot:

Step 4: In the URL in Brightspace of the user in question there is a uid=XXXX. This number is the Brightspace UserID, you will need this in Aptify.

Step 5:

Now in Aptify person record go to Webuser to open up the Webuser Record.  Click on Person External Accounts tab and double click to open the Desire2Learn record.   In that record, take the ID from Brightspace above and put in the account ID field.  

 

 

 

Save and close the record. Impersonate the user to test.

Completed

Please note, if you impersonate the user before performing the record updates you will have to wait on the cache to clear in order for the person to work.  Usually every few hours.  

Also note, the user will no longer be able to log into the Brightspace backend.  They will need to get into D2l through the AHIMA Learning Center and access course share through the dots on the top of Brightspace.
