From your AHIMA Windows laptop
- Log onto your computer as usual and make sure you are connected to the internet.
- If you are not in the office, logon and connect to VPN.
- Press Ctrl-Alt-Del and click on "Change Password".
- Fill in your old password and set a new password (password requirements below).
- Press OK to return to your desktop.
Password change from Microsoft.com (MAC and Contract Users)
- Go to: https://account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com/ChangePassword.aspx
- Login with your ahima.org email address
- Enter your new password
- Update your password for Microsoft Apps and VPN
Password Policy
- Must be changed every 90 days
- Not the previous 10 passwords
- Password Requirements
- Cannot use the account name
- At least 8 characters
- 3 types of symbols must be used in the password
- Numbers (0–9)
- Uppercase letters (A-Z)
- Lowercase letters (a-z)
- Special characters ($, #, %, etc.)
- Recommendation: Use a passphrase
- CantStopBeliving!
- MyKidsLoveCookies3
There are a few ways that you can change your AHIMA Password noted above. It is important to point out that if you change your password via the online method of other means than your laptop from outside the AHIMA Network you must follow the directions below to make sure your laptop is updated with the newest password.
How to synch up your laptop with the correct password after changing it via Office365 online or through remote desktop:
- From outside the AHIMA network: Log into your laptop with your old credentials you used before the password change.
- Open up Cisco Anyconnect VPN and connect. When prompted for credentials, use the new password you changed in previous steps.
- Once connected to VPN, press: CTRL+ALT+DEL keys to bring up the option to lock your computer.
- Choose Lock.
- Sign back into your computer with your new credentials. (Note: You must be connected to AHIMA via VPN in order for your computer to reauthenticate with your new password)
