Guidelines

The type and location of official guidelines varies by code type, but is generally found in the center column of Code Detail pages. Make sure to click “Show More” on the top right of the guidelines to ensure you’re seeing the full text.

CPT code guidelines appear at the top center column and include guidelines from the code, section, and chapter.

ICD-10-CM guidelines appear at the bottom of the center column and include code, section, and chapter guidance. 

Additional code instructions, such as Excludes notes, Clarifying Terms, and Use Additional Code guidance appear at the top of the center column.

ICD-10-PCS guidelines can be accessed at the bottom of the center column by clicking the View guidelines link.
