GI & Liver

From GERD to intestinal disorders to liver disease, Chapter 11 (Digestive System) codes include a level of specificity that can be hard to stomach. And while combination codes can make GI coding easier, they also create a greater reliance on detailed documentation that describes the symptoms manifesting from each condition. Find out how to look up these codes using the Coding Center and where to find the official and expert guidance to properly assign and sequence them. – Recorded 30 Nov 16

Vision & Hearing

The FY2017 ICD-10-CM code changes include 100 additions/revisions to Chapter 7 (Eye and Adnexa) – and that doesn’t include the hundreds of new diabetes codes for ophthalmic manifestations. Chapter 8 (Ear and Mastoid Process) has fewer changes, but you will find more options for contralateral hearing issues. Learn how to use the Coding Center to find, among others, the appropriate glaucoma, blindness and hearing loss codes – both old and new. – Recorded 27 Oct 16

"With" Relationships

Coding Clinic has said any condition listed under a subterm “with” in the Alphabetic Index should be interpreted as linked to the main term when both conditions are present. Discover how the new assumed relationships impact your code lookup & assignment using the Coding Center, including where to find the official guidance expected to be included in the FY2017 Guidelines. – Recorded 27 Sept 16
