Fractures

Correctly coding fractures requires proper identification of the cause mixed with a healthy knowledge of bone anatomy. Once the cause and specific fractured bone has been determined, choosing the right combination of terms to search on the Coding Center becomes easier. See how to look up fracture diagnoses – including the appropriate 7th characters – as well as external cause codes that help provide your payer with more insight behind the care you’re providing – Recorded Feb. 21, 2019

OASIS Changes

The CY 2018 Home Health PPS final rule – following a comprehensive review of the OASIS assessment with the goal of reducing the data collection burden – finalized “changes to 33 OASIS items that would result in the collection of 235 fewer data elements at specific time points within a home health episode.” Join us for a sneak peek at how the Coding Center EXPERT will look come January 1, 2019 and learn how your OASIS lookup – and the associated guidance both from official sources and the experts at DecisionHealth – will differ because of these changes. – Recorded Dec. 19, 2018

Infections (including Sepsis)

Proper coding of infections depends on what part of the body is affected and the organism that caused it. Some infections require A single code while others need a Buddy to fully capture the clinical picture. We’ll also go over tracking down systemic infection codes for conditions like sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock. Join us to learn the AB(C)s of infection code lookup and where to find instructions on the Coding Center to properly sequence them. – Recorded 25 Apr 18
