Overcoming Search Roadblocks

It can be frustrating to enter a query into the Coding Center search box and get the dreaded No Results Found. COVID-19

Assigning COVID-19 codes and diagnoses related to the virus can be challenging -- especially because the conventions, guidelines and guidance for these codes keep evolving. Just six weeks ago, on January 1st, CMS/CDC implemented a half-dozen new diagnoses for both active COVID-19 and post-COVID-19-related conditions. Join us to see how to look up all these diagnoses on the Coding Center, determine which of the codes can be listed primary under PDGM, and where to find the coding and sequencing instructions on the detail pages. – Recorded February 22, 2021

Burns

ICD-10-CM differentiates between burns caused by a heat source, called thermal burns, and burns caused by chemicals, which are referred to as corrosions. Both types are found in Chapter 19 of the code set and proper code assignment requires reporting details such as site, depth, extent, source/agent and encounter type. Join us to learn how to most efficiently look up these diagnoses on the Coding Center and where to find the Guidelines, tips, scenarios, etc. to help guide your code assignment and sequencing. – Recorded January 20, 2021
