Orthopedic Aftercare
When providing orthopedic aftercare, it's important to not only assign the appropriate primary diagnosis but also the secondary diagnoses that completely paint the picture of the care you're providing and the medical necessity behind it. Discover the best routes through the Coding Center to the appropriate aftercare code(s) following amputations, joint replacements, and other musculoskeletal procedures – plus how to look up the codes for complications that may arise during recovery from these procedures - Recorded July 25, 2022
OASIS Ulcer Items
While the OASIS-D Guidance Manual includes 17 pages of instruction for the ulcer items in the Integumentary domain, there always seem to be confusion surrounding M1306-M1334. In fact, a search for "ulcer" on the Coding Center's CMS Q&As page currently returns more than 65 results. Discover where to find the official and expert guidance for choosing the appropriate responses and where to find the links to even more instruction to help simplify your review of this often difficult portion of the OASIS. – Recorded June 30, 2022
Ulcer Coding
Pressure is just one cause of skin ulcers. Stasis, arterial and diabetic ulcers are also common to home health and all require multiple codes – one for the etiology and one to specify the location and severity of the ulcer itself. Keeping it all straight can be challenging, but knowing the right combination of search terms can make your life easier. Learn how to find these codes using the Coding Center, as well as the Guidelines, tips and other guidance on each detail page for correctly assigning them. – Recorded May 19, 2022
