How to Re-register MFA with a New Phone
If you've replaced your phone and need to set up MFA again, follow these steps:
Step 1: Sign in to Your Security Info Page
- Go to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info.
- Sign in using your work or school account credentials.
Note: You must be able to sign in without MFA to access this page. If you're locked out, contact your IT administrator to reset your MFA settings.
Step 2: Remove Your Old Device
- Under Security Info, locate your old phone listed under Authenticator app or Phone.
- Click Remove next to the old device.
Step 3: Add Your New Phone
- Click + Add sign-in method.
- Choose Authenticator App or Phone depending on your preferred method.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to:
- Install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your new phone (if using the app).
- Scan the QR code or enter the setup code.
- Verify the setup by approving a test notification or entering a code.
Step 4: Confirm and Save
- Ensure your new phone is listed and marked as default sign-in method if desired.
- You're now ready to use MFA with your new device.
